Leave no duty undone

“Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin” (James 4:17).

“So did Joshua; he left nothing undone” (Josh. 11:15).

No matter what the form of the temptation may be, he who, when convinced of his duty, yet takes no corresponding action, is on the highroad to perdition. Inevitably this bondage grows stronger and stronger with every fresh trial of its strength.

Every time you are convinced of duty and yet resist that conviction and refuse to act in accordance with it, you become more and more helpless; you commit yourself more and more to the control of your iron-hearted master. Every fresh case renders you only the more fully a helpless slave.—Charles G. Finney.

You will be judged in that great day of accounts not only for what you have done, but for what you have left undone. Your neglected opportunities will be taken into account.

They do the least who talk the most,

Whose good designs are all their boast.

Let words be few.

They do the most whose lives possess

The sterling stamp of righteousness;

For deeds are true.

Maxims from David Livingstone:

Fear God and work hard.

Anywhere, provided it be forward.

I am resolved to continue doing my duty whatever it cost.

I mean to open up the country or die in the attempt. I’ll find a path or make one.

All that I am I owe to Jesus Christ, revealed to me in His divine Book. Here is the source of strength and the transforming power.
